Commitment in Action
Victor’s path into healthcare required more than motivation. It required time, preparation, and access to tools that made staying in school financially possible. After earning acceptance into the nursing track at Big Bend Community College, Victor took on the full weight of nursing coursework and clinical training while managing real-world expenses.
That’s where coordinated support mattered.
While in training, Victor accessed education-related financial assistance through SkillSource, the local workforce board serving North Central Washington. He was eligible for Economic Security for All (EcSA), a Washington State Department of Commerce initiative delivered in partnership with local workforce boards to support individuals pursuing education and employment.
Through EcSA, Victor qualified for a Matched Savings Account (MISA), an incentive designed to reward consistent progress. He saved intentionally, using those funds to purchase a laptop required for nursing coursework and to prepare for continued education beyond graduation.
Victor now works as a Registered Nurse at Kadlec Regional Medical Center and continues building credentials as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing student at Wenatchee Valley College.
In a note featured in his graduation program, Victor acknowledged how this aligned support between workforce partners showed up:

With credentials in hand and continued education underway, Victor is contributing skills that meet real healthcare needs in North Central Washington.
