Teamwork, Growth, and Real-World Impact

This summer, three students took part in a Project-Based Learning (PBL) experience focused on business administration.

Project-Based Learning is an educational approach that moves beyond traditional classroom learning with students tackling real-world projects, hands-on gain confidence, practical experience, and the chance to participate in meaningful work with lasting value in their communities.

The students in this PBL cohort were Sahalee, Sari, and Ritchie. They took on assignments that required true collaboration, like writing meeting minutes, designing outreach flyers, and preparing presentations.

In addition, they created their own LinkedIn profiles and learned from expert staff how to present themselves professionally online, including tips on networking, showcasing their skills, and building a strong social media presence that supports their career goals. They also learned a top skill that employers want: how to give and receive feedback with kindness and honesty— a skill that will serve them well in any workplace.

A focus of this business administration PBL was to create usable outreach materials for community partners, like CAFE and WorkSource. CAFE adopted one of their flyers and appreciated it so much they requested a reusable template for future projects. The meeting minutes template created by the students is now used by WorkSource as their official record.

SkillSource Instructor, Alex Siefe, led this business administration PBL effort. They shared, “I have been so impressed with the high quality of this group’s work. Their dedication to learning and asking such great questions is going to continue to serve them well beyond this experience.”

Each student walked away with a portfolio of real-world projects, new confidence in their abilities, and a strong foundation for the next step in their careers.

Congratulations to Sahalee, Sari, and Ritchie. We look forward to seeing what you achieve next!
